Day 3 Finally Found Paddington

Today we decided to venture down to Miraflores which is down on the Pacific coast, 5 miles outside Lima.  It takes forever to get anywhere by car or taxi so we embraced local transport and used the Metrapolitano High Speed Bus Line which proved to be absolutely brilliant!  The bus operates much like the tube system at home - it has its own dedicated road which cars aren’t allowed on so gets everywhere quickly!  The ticket system took some working out but all in all it was super duper!

We walked through a park which upon first glance seemed very normal, with the exception of having animal houses of some sort scattered around it.  As we got to the other end of the park I started to notice the cats which were lazing round in the sun, at first glance I only noticed the odd one or two, but after looking more closely, there were dozens of them all lounging in the sun.  It turns out all the houses in the park were for the cats and it was a cat sanctuary park of some sort.  There was a special market on right next to the park for cat lovers - some of the things had to be seen to be believed - I’ll say no more but see the pic below!

The coast is beautiful but the thing that made my day was bumping into a certain Paddington Bear after a rather delicious lunch.  Aunt Lucy wasn’t anywhere to be seen so I think she must be in the home for retired bears.  There were oodles of craft markets which we moseyed around before heading back to Lima to do some packing - we are heading off to The Sacred Valley tomorrow.

Whilst sorting out the packing, Andy disappeared to get some help printing boarding passes in the hotel, he returned 20 minutes later with no boarding passes but was very pleased that he did now have a certificate in how to make Pisco Sour cocktails!

Day 3 complete, alarm clock set and off to the airport tomorrow morning.

I finally found Paddington!
