Day 26 Lake Taupo

The 5hr drive to Lake Taupo was sunny and scenic!  I think when people say New Zealand has lots of sheep, it’s a myth.  We have seen precisely 8 sheep in our whole time in NZ so far, and approximately 3 thousand cows ๐Ÿ„ ๐Ÿ˜‚, so unless the sheep are all in disguise, I’ve no idea where they all are!

Taupo is a big holiday destination so lots of shops and places to eat.  Our home for the next 4 days is 7 miles out of town in Whakamoenga Point which is set on the lake side.  It a beautiful house with stunning views and oh so peaceful.

After checking out the house we did something we haven’t had to do for nearly a month…… think about what to cook!  Andy’s itching to get back in the kitchen so dishes were discussed and a trip to the supermarket followed.

On a Sunday in NZ, the supermarket is open til 8pm, bonus!  It didn’t, however, make it any less busy.  Everyone in a NZ supermarket appears to push their trolleys at break neck speed and is definitely on a mission.  There was no hanging round or dilly-dallying for fear of getting mowed down!

Once home, Andy swam and caught some sun ☀️, I read my book and thought about unpacking but decided not to - I’ve only unpacked once in the last month, I find it just as easy to leave things in their packing cubes and get what I need when I need it.  Andy is the opposite and likes to unpack his stuff and hang it all up.

Dinner was lovely, Andy was in his element back in the kitchen.  Adter dinner, I lost 6 games of dominoes in a row and 1 game of crib.  Oh dear.  If anybody’s looking for me I’ll be soaking in the rather lovely bath thinking what games I might be able to actually win. ๐Ÿ˜‚.
